Parker Brothers started producing and marketing Monopoly in November 1935. The Monopoly money in this piece is from a Monopoly set manufactured that year. In the early 2000's the US Treasury added colors to the mostly green US Currency. The US currency used in this piece reflects the modern color changes. What is striking is the color scheme of the 1935 Monopoly money closely matches the color scheme of the modern US currency.
The odds of the US currency being closely colored to a game board money from ~70 years ago, randomly, are so low that you have a better chance of wining the lottery...twice in your lifetime! It seems the choice of colors was not random, it was done on purpose.
So this begs the question: Did they do that to warn us or mock us?
You decide...
